Chapter 22

Eric inwardly chuckled as he felt Keenan’s distant dismay at his proclamation of making aphrodisiac tea. He wondered if it was wise to make the vampire jealous, but discarded his concern. Making tea was a completely innocent endeavor. And besides, the aphrodisiac tea had been a total random discovery. Why not take advantage of it?

Truly, it was entirely Keenan’s fault. If not for the vampire’s insistence on playing around Mr. Nelson’s mind, the art’s teacher wouldn’t have had a head ache and Eric would have never offered to make him so tea. Of course, at the time, he hadn’t guessed that he’d bump into his teacher’s secret stash of aphrodisiacs, but anyway…He wondered what Mr. Nelson kept in the bedroom if he kept THAT in the kitchen.

Eric’s face flamed as he realized what he’d just considered. It wasn’t that he’d thought of his teacher in a sexual way… No! It was just innocent curiosity. Just curiosity…

The blonde nodded to himself as he went to the stove and picked up the boiling water. He was getting so worked up for some simple ginger tea… Honestly…

He inwardly sighed. What was Keenan doing? Had he discovered the traitor in his group? He was worried about the vampire, because he couldn’t quite shake the feeling that something very bad was going to happen. Perhaps it was just the memory of Keenan’s burnt body… but somehow, he doubted it. This whole affair, with the traitor, it gave him the chills.

“Eric, how’s that tea going?”

The young psychic dropped the mug he was holding, startled by Mr. Nelson’s sudden voice. The teacher peeked in the kitchen and Eric gave him a sheepish look, “I’m sorry, I broke your mug…” He bent down to pick up the shards of glass and hissed as the sharp pieces embedded itself in his unprotected hands, “Hey, now! Be careful!”

Mr. Nelson cursed as he saw Eric’s bloody hands. “Get up! Leave the shards, I’ll clean up later…” Eric felt terrible about giving his teacher so much trouble. He’d wanted to make a nice gesture for Mr.

Nelson and instead he’d only fucked up, broken a mug and cut his hands. Smooth, Eric, really smooth…

The teacher ran out of the room, leaving Eric to muse over his stupidity.

“Pet, what’s wrong?”

Keenan’s voice rang out in Eric’s head, a tone of concern mixed with jealousy.

“Nothing, Keenan…” Eric sucked on his cut finger absently. “I just dropped a cup and cut my hand.

Don’t worry about it…”

Just then, Mr. Nelson came back in the kitchen, first aid kit in hand. He froze in the doorway, staring at Eric, mouth agape.

For a second, the blonde didn’t realize what had affected his teacher so much. Then, he registered that he was still sucking on his hurt finger. Eric let out a little awkward laughter, releasing his finger from his mouth, “I think it stopped…”

“Pet?” He could probably hear Keenan’s arched brow in his voice – was that even possible?

Eric contemplated telling Keenan about the complicated situation. Probably the vampire had caught enough from his mind anyway.
